soured and soared

My Friends!

My friends! My friends! However hard you look
You'll not find a trace of human nature in me!
Even the maddest madman could never imagine
What I have imagined in my heart!
I am so extreme, even madmen flee me now!
For I have mingled with death, soured and soared in Non-Being.

- Jalal-ud-Din Rumi

  1. oh Megan, yes yes yes. Thanks for posting this. Sometimes I think that it has woken me up to the fact that I am in fact a spiritual being having a human experience (as opposed to the other way round) and that this loss makes me want to be only a spiritual being ... and with him. But that to do that I have to find more than a trace of human nature in me again. I have it, I have empathy for others who have been bereaved, but little left for those who do not suffer these days.

  2. I find that too - I just want to be done with this visible world and go back to the invisible. I'm sure my babe is loving it. I was worried for a long time that the creature I've become won't "land" where he is, that my heart is too broken and my mind no longer free.

  3. AHHHH, soulmates always find each other, for they are never truly separated ... it just seems so ... your souls are still entwined - it's just that it's more complex now ... you can see yourself, you just can't see him.

    I totally believe this x
